Maharashtra Government Declares a Paid Holiday on January 15, 2026
The Maharashtra Government has declared a paid holiday on 15th Jan 2026 for the ongoing elections. The paid holiday leave is to be given to all those Workers/officials/employees who are voters in the constituency where the election is being held, even if they are working outside the constituency where the election is being held, should be given full pay to exercise their right to vote on the election day.
Exception: In situations of adverse conditions, in dangerous or public utility services, or in cases involving emergencies, where it is not possible to provide full day rest to officials, employees, and workers, it is necessary for the employer to ensure that, instead of full day rest, two to three hours of leave per day shall be granted for the exercise of the employee's right.
Implication for not following the order: If complaints are received from individuals stating that they could not avail the appropriate duty or concession due to failure to receive the relevant approval, action will be taken against the concerned establishments.
