As per the notification dated 7th July 2025 having reference no 0l/Fl - 08/2025 S.no - 42, the Bihar Government through the Labour Resources Department has notified the Bihar Factories (Amendment) Rules, 2025. The notification states that under Rule 95 under Schedules II, III, IV, VI, VII, VIII, X, XI, XIII, XVI, XVII, XVIII, and XIX, the term “women” has now been replaced with the more precise designation “pregnant women and lactating mothers”

This update will directly improve the workplace conditions for women and will ensure the specialized health and safety measures during pregnancy and lactation periods. The Factory Owners and related establishments are now have to be more cautious while complying with the provisions related to the pregnant women. The Factory Management should conduct a compliance audit time to time based on this and future amendments. The Establishments should provide and improve support facilities such as rest areas, breastfeeding rooms, etc.
