As per the notification No. 12/2/149-HII(2)2025/12994 dated 14th Aug 2025, the Chandigarh Government allows all shops and establishments to keep their place of business open 24x7 on all days of the year, subject to several conditions, of which major ones are as follows:

• • One Holiday must be given to every employee in a week
• • Employer must adhere to fixed working hours as provided under the act.
• • Employer must obtain written consent from women employee and provide transportation facility if she is required to work between 8pm and 6am.
• • Employer must install CCTV’s, fire alarms, emergency alarms.
• • Provide basic amenities like restrooms, locker-rooms, clean drinking water etc.
• • Every applicable establishment must comply with the provisions of POSH Act.

This exemption brings new opportunities for businesses but also places a strong focus on employee security, safety, and work-life balance, ensuring that any increase in economic activity doesn’t come at the cost of workers’ rights or well-being.
